Muffin Collie-Flower Crowell

February 1989 ~ June 1999

Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears... but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you.
I loved you so... 'twas Heaven here with you."

The sweetest, dearest, gentlest,
most lovely kitty on earth, our
Isabelle Elisabeth,
this day has passed on to join her sister, Muffin.

Crow Cottage has an empty feeling
tonight without Isabelle...

Who will Whitby chase
around the dining room table now?

We miss you, Isabelle,
so much tonight
and hope you are enjoying
your wings of freedom now!

1983 ~ 2001

June 28, 2000, and hard to believe an entire year has passed since I made this page on the day we said goodbye to our Muff. We still miss her every day ... of every week ... of every month ... and that will never change.

Just 18 days before Muff crossed the Rainbow Bridge, a little collie puppy was born in Connecticut...and 3 months later she came to live at Crow Cottage - her name is Whitby.

But this is Muff's Page... and one puppy's sunset, is another's sunrise....

REMEMBERING MUFFIN COLLIE-FLOWER

Skelton, N. Yorkshire, England

It is with sadness today that I have learned of the passing of a friend, Elkie Burluraux, beloved collie dog of Don and Jean Burluraux. Elkie lived a long and happy life with Don, Jean, Leanne and Graeme, and will be missed very much by all who knew her.

We were lucky enough to meet Elkie in May 2000 during our holiday in England while visiting the Burluraux's - she was the sweetest of dogs, and I believe now she is where she needs to be, playing with the other pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge before her.

Elkie, we love you and will always miss you!

Some may see this day as an end.......
the end of a life.
But for Muffin, it was a beginning.....
the beginning of another life.

The life of a dog spans only a handful of years, but in what seems like only a moment in time, it's over.
Ten years may seem like an eternity to a little girl of 7, who dreams that at the end of those long ten years she will be dancing with her dream-boat, at her senior prom... as a young lady...all grown up...all dressed up....and just starting out in the world.

To a little boy of 11, the prospect of the next ten years will bring the making of a man, the lowering of his voice, the change from his desire to climb trees to his anxiety in finding the courage to ask that special young lady out on their first date.

So ten years can seem like forever in the minds of the youth...
But to a dog, who may only have but those short ten years on earth, it is indeed an entire lifetime, from dawn to setting sun.

A dog must cram a lifetime of feelings, emotions, dreams into those ten years....she can't waste a minute of it. Because she is wise, you see. She knows innately that she only has a limited time here on earth, and so she sets about, at the dawn of her life, to show her love for her people in many many ways, never-ending ways.

A dog is the embodiment of the word "LOVE"....and who's to say this word wasn't created in the thoughts of some ancient canine and picked up by his human in some psychic revelation?

There is a saying that GOD, in His attempt to provide mankind with the perfect companion, created a being so luminous that the only word appropriate for this being was His own name spelled in reverse ... D - O - G.

Our Muffin Collie-Flower took the journey from her earth-life to her universal life today. She left behind a little family, in a cottage by the sea, who miss her very much tonight. Our hearts are broken, but only temporarily. For Muffin, we know, has already begun her angelic task of healing our broken hearts with the inspiration she is giving to us all. She has touched the hearts of more people than she ever knew....we were blessed to have lived with her for the last 4 years of her life, and we pray that she will move through her universe with tail a-wagging, and a great big Muffin-smile on her face!

Cyrano

It is with sadness that we note here the passing of, Cyrano, beloved collie of our friends Michael and Denise, who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge one year to the day after our Muffin crossed over. They are surely romping through the Elysian Fields of Heaven together now!

IF YOU CAN

If you can start the day without coffee and keep going cheerfully all day long,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through no fault of yours, something goes wrong

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him,

If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,

If you can face the world without lies and deceit,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed, color, religion, or politics,

Then, my friend, you are almost as good as your

DOG

Thanks Bill for this Thought for Today...very appropriate it was!
